OFF DAY IS MY FAVORITE DAY
Carpe Diem! Off day is my favorite day. The increase in activity was a tough adjustment this week, but I’m glad that I have today to celebrate the simple joy of relaxation. Yesterday I purchased sneakers, the most important equipment in preparation for race day. I visited the Princeton Running Company, http://www.therunningcompany.net/index.html, and was informed I have a low arch. I am not quite certain what this exactly means, but my shoe selection was based upon this information.
Check out my new sneakers, http://www.brooksrunning.com/prod.php?p=42199&k=82130. They are delightful but not magical, I was hoping they’d lift me up in the air and take away the pain of the pavement, but alas the sneakers do not possess this important quality.
I found sneaker shopping to be very amusing because the salesman spoke of the sneaker as if it was a car. “You’ll get great mileage out of this sneaker, it is built to endure a variety of conditions.” Apparantly this is common runner talk …crazy!
My running partner in crime, Heather, shopped at a different store and found a fabulous sneaker as well. However the man asked us if we planned to WALK the half marathon. Talk about insult to the ego, this man looked like he needed to pick up the pace in his step so I don’t know why I was so perturbed but I’m assuming it’s my own fear and anxiety.
Tomorrow I’m due for 40 minutes of cross training and then on Sunday I have the first 5 mile run of training. I’ll write about it after I regain consciousness, just kidding!
